I am an illustrator, print maker, painter and business owner based in beautiful Halifax Nova Scotia. Originally from Ontario I moved to Halifax to pursue my Bachelor of Fine Art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I spent my four years focusing on painting and photography, and when I graduated I happily decided to stay on the East Coast where folks are friendly, the arts community thrives, and the scenery is beautiful and inspiring. After ten years in Halifax I proudly consider myself a Nova Scotian.
Over the years my style has changed quite a bit as I moved from painting into illustration. My paintings have really become a combination of both my love for clean lines as well as my passion for colour and the possibilities of paint. I more commonly will work in water colours and pen, however when I get the chance to paint I take it, and love it! I am inspired by almost everything. I gather ideas from nature, vintage children’s book illustrations, modern children’s books, vintage poster designs, and screen printed gig posters. I mostly let my imagination take over and see what happens when I put my pencil to paper and follow my doodles until something stands out.
My current endeavours include my new business Double Dare Print Studio, for which I create the illustrations and screen print greeting cards and art prints. I take on commissioned work, and I am currently studying Graphic Design. My work is represented by a local gallery here in Halifax, Argyle Fine Art.
If you are interested in my work please get in touch with me via email bryannachapeskie@gmail.com, as I do not yet have an online shop ( It’s in the works!). If you are interested in learning more about my business Double Dare Print Studio please visit our website and online shop.

I laughed that your cat is named potato!!
Why did you name your cat Potato? I smell a story behind that name 🙂
Great blog!
Well..I live in the East Coast of Canada (PEI=POTATO HEAVEN!), and I’m a potato lover. Also when I got her, she was about the same size as a potato.
Is that your Mom or sister, above?
It can be hard to stay on track. Preparing for sumbission to an upcoming show can help focus my work ethic, but also comes with the pangs of anxiety and deadlines. I look forward to seeing your work.
i like your art work a lot. thank you for sharing it. i am rushing now because i’m on my lunch break but i just wanted you to know that. also, i think you are right, you have to do art for yourself. its hard to do though. i’d love to buy something from you, a small sketch, i love all your animals.
thank you! If you’d like to get in touch about some sketches you can email me at bchapeskie@hotmail.com
I’d be happy to draw/paint you any animal you’d like!

I read a book once about how a WWI munitions ship exploded in the harbor of Nova Scotia – that’s the extent of my Nova Scotia knowledge, but great to hear that great illustration and a love for visual art can be found there as well. Great blog, and keep up the postings!
Lovely blog. Hope this inspires you:

Hi ! I really like your blog ! Can you visited my blog and give a feedback or some sugestions ?
1) http://gooprogrammer10.wordpress.com/
2) http://riic2000.wordpress.com/
Yesterday I created them and i don’t know how to make a good blog. I think I need some sugestions. Please help me telling your opinion.
Thank you 🙂
Hi Riic..
I visited your blogs and I think the first one is neat, it has a very specific topic, one that I know nothing about! Looks good so far! The second one I found a little scattered and confusing, and also noticed some spelling errors! Make sure to edit your posts a couple of times before posting them up! It’s important that you present your best self in writing!! If you are not a naturally good speller maybe ask a friend to look over your posts!
Something I found very handy when blogging is to make sure that you make regular posts. I don’t post as often as I’d like but I do always make sure to post on Monday’s and Wednesdays, each day has a specific theme. If you can break your posts up like that it might help you to find continuity, and I found it also helps me to stick to it. Its important to establish these regular posts so that people reading your blog know when to come back and check out what’s new! If you stop posting for two weeks people will immediately loose interest and are less likely to return to see what you’ve been up to.
Make sure you are writing about something you really love to explore, and want to share with everyone else! ALSO I know your blog is about programming, but images are always a great way to attract attention. Make sure to credit or source the images you use especially if it’s artwork taken from another site!!
Thanks for reading riic..hope this helped a little!!

Hello Bree, what a wonderful (!) blog you’ve got. Such an inspiration to scroll through it, I can’t wait to see what you’ll be coming up with next. I’m also a journalist in the communications- product-design area, so it’s always great to get a little more input from the outside of one’s own head. If you like, you’re invited to check out my (personal) blog as well. Which made personal sound slightly dirty… It was supposed to mean “not work-related…”
