Wednesdoodles: Sketchy Week

HI!

Yes, it’s been a sketchy week. Ever have one of those weeks where your brain just feels full? You can’t quite seem to get anything right and you don’t end up accomplishing much? I’m there!

I think maybe a little lack of planning on my part has caused me to feel a little disorganized. I feel like I’m in a fog. I decided to clean up a little bit, and crank some music to dance to and that has helped ALOT! I needed a good little shake out.

I haven’t been into  my sketchbook very much this week. I did however spend some quality time with a dear pal of mine. We decided to spend some time sketching each other in a local coffee shop. Here’s a sketch of my friend Brian:

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

I haven’t drawn from life in a LONG TIME. I was feeling a little rusty. Brian looks a little off in this drawing, but I had a lot of fun in the process. It was nice change to have a live model!

Another little sketch from my book, which I actually finished up last week:

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 presetIt’s interesting to compare how I draw from life, and how I draw when I’m inventing my subjects. You can really capture the energy of the person in front of you when you draw from life. I’d love to “cartoonize” Brian sometime, and take that sketch into another realm…watercolour and all!

That’s it for now! For the next little while I’ll be working hard on pattern making! I’ll share the results SOON!

Bree

  1. Ive had weeks like that, to me organizing, looking at other sketches i have made, or just to step out for a bit helps a lot. I think its part of the creating process.
