Hi!
Here we are at Monday again!!!
Today’s featured artist is pretty rad. It seems that in the the late 60’s and well into the 70’s Antonio Lopez was THE fashion illustrator. Not only did he draw wonderfully colourful and evocative illustrations for big time magazines such as Warhol’s Interview, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and The New York Times, he also discovered models Grace Jones and Tina Chow. Apparently he KNEW a beautiful face when he saw it!! Lopez was born in Peurto Rico and then moved to New York with his family at a young age. He attended an art high school and then went off to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Here are some examples of his wonderful work below!
I am so inspired by his colour palette!
Have an awesome Monday! Check back in on Wednesday…I have some sketches to share!
These are so awesome! I love the simplicity of the use of line and the vibrancy of the colors. The tan line sketch is such a great idea too. Thanks for sharing.

Ah I’ve studied him in fashion illustration!! I might have actually written a post about him way back when. He’s amazing.
These are great. They remind me of the models from sewing pattern covers. Very distinctive style.
Awesome colors! 🙂
Fantastic artist, I had never heard of him before! Despite the work being several decades old it has an amazing timeless quality, very inspiring 🙂
