Wednesdoodles: India Ink

I told you I would come back!

So I’ve been going through a real stale phase…my imagination feels like it has shut down. I can’t blame it though, as I haven’t been feeding it any inspiration, and I have barely been drawing! I spent a few hours the other night just playing around in my studio. I decided to switch things up and use a different medium. Instead of watercolours and pen I switched to india ink, a brush and a fountain pen. Sometimes when I’m feeling stuck I like to change the way I usually make things and just mess around and see what comes of it. I feel a lot better now that I’ve finally spent some time just drawing and experimenting. I didn’t come up with anything good at all buuuut…I don’t think it was a complete waste of time!! Here’s a few shots of the weird little doodles I made.

I find ink or a pen is an awesome way to just let things happen. You can’t really erase anything so whaver line you draw you are stuck with it, and you have to find creative ways to transform. I really hope I’m on the path to recovering my imagination!! EEK!

That’s it for now! Have a good Wednesday!

  1. These are great, I love the way you produce so many variations in line. I also love working in ink, it’s my favourite drawing medium. Really looking forward to see more of what you do!

    • Hi Gillian! Thanks for writing! Ink is so much fun to work with! Usually I am into watercolours and pen but lately I’ve been feeling a little un-inspired so I thought switching mediums for a while would help me break out a little bit. So far so good!
