So I feel like the reason for my lack of arting and blogging can be summed up perfectly by a line from the song Keep On Rockin Me Baby by the Steve Miller Band, and it goes something like “Well I’ve been lookin’ real hard, and I’m trying to find a job, but it just keeps getting tougher everyday”. Voila. So let’s get inspired by these amazingly beautiful and colourful illustrations full of lines and life! Yellena James has amazing work. Please, PLEASE! Visit her website! Enjoy!
steve miller band is the source of my upbringing.
Love your Steve Miller Band quote- can be applied to any sort of creating…lol. These illustratons are STUNNING!
agreed!
beautiful artwork:-)
Stunningly beautiful! Thanks for sharing this work. I am actually a recovering bipolar artist who knows the real MANIC Monday all too well! My blog shares the story of that recovery via the art I post there.
Congrats on being FP-ed. And hang on for the ride–it can be truly crazy (mental health humor intended)!

Beautiful Read on this Manic Monday.
Oh, Yellena! I’ve been an inspired fan of her Etsy shop for some time. I knew it was her when I saw the thumbnail image on my wordpress dashboard. 🙂
Very cool, thanks for sharing! And congrats on being Freshly Pressed.
I find in my music that inspiration sometimes has to be forced. I find my inspiration less and less in others’ art, and more and more in the mundane: that wikipedia article I read, that book I skimmed.
I love how organic these paintings are…
these are super gorgeous. i for sure need to go check out more of her work. maybe they can inspire me a bit too 🙂
Congratulations on being fp’d. These are beautiful forms…like the fragile undersides of mushrooms and the strings of a jellyfish. Thank you!
So beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely be checking out her website.
nice pictures. looks like a magical sea.
I discovered Yellena a few years back on Etsy.com and currently have one of her pieces in my bedroom. I love the colors and the seemingly ethereal underwater designs she does!
that’s so great! I might have to make a purchase as well.
These pieces are stunning! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I love the colours and shapes!
i love it!

Wow!
Really nice paintings that are really colourful not to mention inspirational
🙂
Beautiful. I did visit the site and noticed that the prints for sale are very affordable, which makes them all the more beautiful!
Hello. I’m Izzuddin from Malaysia. What a nice art. I’m inviting you to become one of our Art Community we called ArtFan. Come visit us at http://artums01.blogspot.com.
This was a very interesting post. Thank you for introducing us to another artist. Her work is delightful.
This really is some BEAUTIFUL work! So nice of you to post it for your friend. It has a rather eastern/asian flair, which I am partial to. An artist myself, I also seem to have become preoccupied with blogging, and the noxious anxiety of trying to catch the Lone Ranger of mice, Jerry – which I did manage, in a cookie box, this morning…maybe now I can get back to some art! I will definately go and check out her site, plus peruse yours. I just love to see what other artists are making. Thanks for posting, and congratulations on Freshly Pressed!

Beautiful. I think the third one down will have to serve as my background for a while 🙂 Congrats on FP!
Wow, this is beautiful work! I checked out her website, and the colors, forms, details of her work are stunning. Thanks for posting these samples of her work. And best wishes on your own work!
such exciting art—exhilarating!
wow, these are beautiful.
Simplesmente lindo !!!
Very pretty work! Thanks for posting.
Beautiful!
Exotic! I love it. What medium do you use mostly?
this is not my own artwork! It’s an artist feature. The artist named is Yellena James. Her site can be found here!
Very nice! =)
These are AMAZING!!!
These are incredible! Thanks for sharing them, and I will definitely have to check out Yellena James’ site.
The first picture sort of looks like panthers jumping over mushrooms whilst other strange button-eyed creatures relax on the lawn and sniff other upside creatures’ feet.
I like your blog. How did you make the beautiful header? I am setting up a blog for a school and can’t get the header to appear properly. It is either stretched or smushed even if i make it the exact pixel size asked for in the theme.
Hmm..well luckily this theme allows for a big huge header. I sized my banner to the exact size it asks for so that you don’t need to crop any of it off. I used photoshop to put together several different pieces of my own artwork, and voila! I hope you get yours sorted out!
The Steve Miller band was my cat’s favorite. He would sit right in front of the speaker.
haha! That is great!
Wow! These are amazing!!! You are really gifted. I feel like we could have something in common because I do some art of my own. Mine is drawn while yours is painted… but still! I love the splash of color! It gives me a ocean/hawiian feeling. You are fantastic!
P.S. thank you so much for posting this up for me to see! love it
heya…just letting you know that this is not my own artwork, it is Yellena James. You can find her site and her shop here !!!

these are amazing. thanks for sharing!
Very nice!
Those are amazing works of art! I particularly love the second piece up there! The colors surely wake me up! The style (sort of) reminds me of my friend’s artwork, but his is more Cambodian inspired shapes/figures. This is very cool – thanks for sharing and congrats on being FP!
wow, so beautiful!
love them! love your style! would like to see it.
so colourful and inspiring!
The beauty of blogs – we see art that would normally be kept under wraps, under beds, on top of wardrobes, between mattresses, behind lounges……..thanks for sharing.
Hi, just discovered your blog – and what beautiful art you are featuring in your latest post. Thank you! Patrick
Congratulations on being FD ed
The paintings are so alive, as if under water sea life. Also they so like the mind on any manic day. So much happening in those paintings just like the mind flipping from one thing to other ; trying to make sense of the total chaos, and yet make it beautiful!
Oh My God!! This is example of a complete Artist!!
🙂
Great blog. I know that blocked feeling just too well. I am in the pit of being unable to write or create at the moment. good to see some wonder.
this is such a nice piece of Art ^^

Wow! I love this. Each one has its own sort of unique brilliance… They’re all amazing, good job.
Wow ~ really beautifu !!
Really incredible stuff. I tried my hand at watercolor painting a little last year. Still need to find time to continue working with the medium. However, since I got a new camera, I’ve been getting to know it. Without art our lives would truly be dull.
Good one… congrats on being freshly pressed.
Beautiful artworks, are they inspired by fungi? Is the artist a friend of yours? x
this is by an artist named Yellena James!
beautiful!)))
i’ve seen lots of art on the web and in person but this is “inner beauty”…congrats very well done..love the interplay of colors makes one at peace..regards
Those pieces are amazing! I want one in my home immediately!
Beautiful images!

Stunning artwork!!
I’m in love with this artwork! Thank you for posting this and making the world a bit more beautiful.
amazing….:)
Fortunately I live in an area where there are no natural disasters. I cant imagine what it must be like to be in the line of a tornado. I hear its sounds like a freight train commin straight at ya. It is strange to see that the furniture is still in tact but the entire wall is gone.
I wish I had limited TV more with my kids when they were little. One of my fondest memories is when they were about 7 and 9 and we had just moved, so we had to wait a few days for cable. One evening we got home and just lay on my bed for about 20 minutes before dinner, talking about nothing in particular. Also happy is a memory of coming home from the beach and playing the card game War for a couple of hours instead of automatically turning on the TV,
TV is such a time-sucker. I get so much more done when I don’t watch. Can’t really even sort laundry!
you are so right! I went years without cable tv, and recently I was hooked up again. I usually can’t sit still long enough to waste too much time, but there are definately better things to do than lay around and waste time like that! I hope to be much more adventurous this year and try as many new things as possible!
I read freshly pressed almost daily
Check out my blog sometime.

Inspirational art! Thanks. Makes me want to pick up my pen and ink doodling. I love your fonts, too. What are they?
I believe the header font is called Daniel on typekit. I think the font for the rest of the text is just arial .
absolutely love your art style.
these aren’t mine! They are Yellena James. Check out her website (the link is at the top of the page)
great artwork…great lining…keep up the good work.
Oh, my, gosh! Those are some amazing drawings and designs! It’s amazing how many great abstract artists are out there! I’m a failure at drawing myself, except for cartoons, but heck, I most certainly admire those who can draw as well as this. It must take a lot of patience and a lot of hard, hard work. I don’t have the first one at all!
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!

There are so many hidden gems it’s true! Thank goodness for the internet! I wouldn’t come across half the artist that I do. These pieces are so imaginative! It definately requires patience and diligence! These are a good testament to what people can do when they put their time and energy into something they love!
Those are amazing works of art! I particularly love the second piece up there! The colors surely wake me up! The style (sort of) reminds me of my friend’s artwork, but his is more Cambodian inspired shapes/figures. This is very cool – thanks for sharing and congrats on being FP!
